Farm Show Pre-Show Guide

PROMOTIONAL SUPPLEMENT

Farm Show Pre-Show Guide 2016

T

he Southwest Demo Field at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show this

September will play host to two major field demonstrations this

year: hay cutting and deep tillage.

“Our field

demonstrations

are going to be a

big draw this year,”

says Paul Roper

who is the Canada’s

Outdoor Farm

Show Sales and

Demonstration

Coordinator.

The first

field equipment

demonstration

will be deep

tillage starting at

12:30 pm each day.

Manufacturers will

compare deep ripping

equipment in a large

field of barley stubble

as they make a 200’

pass each day. To

make for an accurate

comparison between

manufacturers, this

year’s deep tillage

demonstration will

focus solely on ripper

shanks and in line

rippers. Disc and

combination ripper

tillage tools will not

be participating in this year’s comparative field demonstration.

In addition to the 200’ length available to them, each company

also has a 50’ start zone to allow the tractor and implement

to get up to speed to ensure the 200’ pass is as accurate to

true farm conditions as possible. After each manufacturer

does a 200’ pass in the field, the crowd has an opportunity to

evaluate the quality of the finished product. Farmers can see for

themselves how these tillage tools compare in aspects like residue

management and manufacturers want to show off their piece’s

smooth finish on the soil.

Directly following the deep tillage demonstration will be the

hay cutting demonstration. Kicking off at 1:30 pm, dairy farmers

and other livestock farmers alike will be able to see several pieces

of hay cutting equipment in action. Quality feed is critical to a

vibrant livestock farm and the equipment used to create that feed

is critical.

The daily hay cutting demonstrations will use a 700’ by

600’patch in the Southwest Demo Field. Similar to the tillage

demonstrations, the field will be designed to allow each

manufacturer to have a start zone for getting up to speed

followed by a 150’ pass at full speed.

Both field demonstrations will equip farmers with the

knowledge to pick the best equipment for their field whether it’s

for harvesting the crop or tilling the soil. Let Canada’s Outdoor

Farm Show be part of your decision process and attend the

demonstrations.

Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show will be held on September 13,

14 and 15, 2016 inWoodstock, ON. For more information about
