CONSERVATION
AUTHORITIES ACT IN
ROUND 2 OF REVIEW
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry recently released its
second discussion paper “Conserving our Future” as part of a review
of the
Conservation Authorities Act
and regulations.
Participating in the consultation process, the Ontario Federation
of Agriculture (OFA) identified five priority areas and will submit
a formal response by the September 2016 deadline. Here are some
highlights from our submission.
✓
Request for better agricultural representation on conservation
authority boards across the province
✓
Clarify the regulatory scope of conservation authorities
on private farmland
✓
Establish a “one window” access point for coordination
of all programs
Final changes to the
Conservation Authorities Act
are expected in
late 2016, early 2017. Watch for OFA’s full submission at
ofa.on.ca
under “Issues.”
