Putting some Sizzl in your love life

Tuesday, December 8, 2015

A new publicity stunt by Oscar Mayer is spreading the (bacon) love, Advertising Age reports.

Oscar Mayer, whose other marketing gimmicks have included touting bacon as a luxurious Father's Day gift, has come out with Sizzl, a dating app that matches couples by their bacon preferences. According to CNET, people use their Facebook accounts to sign up and add personal details, then answer such truly important questions as "Do you prefer pork or turkey bacon?," "Do you like your bacon crispy?" and "Would you split the last piece of bacon with your date?"

According to Advertising Age, Oscar Mayer says it made the app to "help Americans find their bacon soulmates." Several journalists have tried the app, including Jenn Harris of the Los Angeles Times. According to her, "You may not meet your future spouse, but at least you'll have someone to trade bacon one-liners with when you feel like it." However, she also ended up getting matched with people as far away as Boston.

If you truly feel bacon preferences are the way to choose a sweetheart, don't wait too long. Sizzl is available for a limited time, though only for iPhones, CNET reports. BP
