OFAC and AGCare to amalgamate Tuesday, August 30, 2011 by BETTER FARMING STAFFAfter years of close collaboration and staff sharing, the Ontario Farm Animal Council (OFAC) and Agricultural Groups Concerned about Resources and the Environment (AGCare) have voted to amalgamate. The two groups will officially launch the new, yet-unnamed organization Jan. 1, 2012.Crystal Mackay, executive director for both organizations, said they have shared office space in Guelph for the last five years during which time they have also shared a program director. In the last couple of years the executive director and communications manager have also been shared. Both groups formed in the late 1980s.Mackay said the new organization will continue with outreach to boost understanding and public confidence in food and farming.
