The new unit arrived in January. I
tried to set the temperature of the
individual compartments and even
bought two thermometers in my
efforts but to no avail. The following
summer it worked just great. I made
contact with the company using the
1-800 number as the new unit was
still under warranty. Fortunately, my
call was passed to an experienced
service technician. He told me how to
trick the unit when the ambient
temperature goes below 18°C (65°F).
It works well.
Other farm energy users
Milk heat can be recovered and used
very effectively to preheat wash water.
This can and should be done if the
heated water can be used effectively
and not dumped.
Tremendous advances have been
made in improved electrical motor
efficiency. High use motors for
ventilation etc. should be changed
and upgraded whenever appropriate.
Large motors on units such as
grain dryers should also be considered
for upgrading if demand or consump-
