Let me see if I've got this right - when the tobacco industry imploded, and even though virtually all the tobacco grown in Canada was grown in Ontario, the feds paid 100% of the transition payments to tobacco farmers, Ontario paid nothing.

Will Ontario pay anything to disaffected dairy and poultry farmers if supply management weakens, or even disappears?

Stephen Thompson, Clinton ON

why doesn't the chicken board or dairy board pay out transition payments ,Why Why Why would the rest of Canada pay them when they have made there big money they have had lots of time to save there nickels for disasters .If the government helps them they better get RMP working

Maybe because it was so much wasted money.A lot of those farmers took the cash and just kept growing tobacco. The transition was meant to be OUT of the industry!

All the more reason to not vote Liberal !

About as much as they're paying for all the damage their policies have done to rural Ontario.

I will second that .

Or would be better to inform the minister of environment and climate change . That ministry and minister seems to hold more power over ag than the ag minister does .
