Soybean and canola prices fell off from their support levels since early summer and continue to be in a downtrend with no recovery in sight as we go further into the lean months (for grain and oilseed market price action) of winter. Since we have this big production and supply outlook from this year that will loom over next year’s production or cropping decisions, North American farmers are likely to cut back on their 2025-26 soybean and canola acreage decisions as price ratios are unlikely to favour growing more oil crops versus others. The only way to cut the burdensome supply outlook is to cut back production, as we are unlikely to be able to crush or export our way out of this mountain of oilseeds.
